Stormy Evening Outlook - Great Day for Cleaning
I am my mother's daughter - you have heard me say this so many times. But I am. I have taken on so many of her traits and everyday routines - likes and dislikes. One of them being, love to clean on cloudy days.
My domestic goddess role has taken me to my youngest son's bedroom today. I have also been cleaning out what I call my scrapbook room and everything has been piled on top of Casey's bed. I find this to be really effective. You take things out of one room - purge and bring back what you are keeping.
After 20 plus years my desire for crafting has diminished. I just simply want to "be" and not "do" so much. My doctor tells me he does not want me to exhaust myself. I have recently quit my booth space at the craft store and now I am getting rid of tons of craft items. I will continue to scrapbook, but there is so much other stuff!
I guess this calls for a yard sale, but when would I have this? And there is all the prep, pricing, etc......Brodie has 75 baseball games this summer and that doesn't even include Casey's. That schedule is to come - and very soon.
The Weather Channel has our area in a 7/10 chance for tornadoes this evening. I remember the tornado in the 80's - don't want to go through that again! I know it is reported this April has already broke weather records for tornado action. Be safe out there.
What's for your dinner tonight?
Pork chops
Baked sweet potatoes
Green peas with mushrooms
Side salad
Crescent rolls
Coconut creme pie
Sounds great doesn't it? Add it to your menu planning meals. For me - I am on a diet, so I will have grilled chicken and broccoli. What can I say...it's.....Jan's Way

There you have it - two weeks worth of meals. You can low-fat all of these menus if you need to do that too.
Now to simplify your grocery shopping go through your menu and write down everything you need to prepare these meals. This will keep your grocery bill down and will eliminate a lot of extra trips to the grocery store. With gas as high as it is now we need to make our shopping trips count.
It is already 11:00 p.m. I just can't seem to get to bed early anymore. I am finding that I have a lot of energy this time of night and I have no idea where it is coming from. I am really excited about tomorrow because I have a chance to stay at home and get a lot of "to do's" crossed off my list. I want to get the inside list complete so I can spend some quality time with the family this summer. Which I might add is just around the corner. Only 8 more weeks of school left! One large project a week and maybe I can be done! My mom makes a list everyday of what she wants to do - she has done this for years. I am my mother's daughter, so I have become very fond of the list making process. It helps because it is so satisfying to cross it off when it is done. Project this week is getting the front porch - sitting ready. My hair stylist suggested I paint my wicker furniture red. I recently painted my front door navy blue and purchased some new pads for the furniture in navy blue and cream colored designed. I think this combination is really going to be beautiful. I am going to do the red geraniums with the spike flowers in pots for the front porch. My front door wreath will be made with red, yellow and white flowers. I am looking for a used red wagon too. If you know where I can find one give me a shout out. Until tomorrow..............God's Peace be with you! I am finally tired!

Spring Break Thoughts
It has been awhile since I have posted. I am caught in the Spring Break routine. We did not plan anything this year and has actually been very enjoyable not doing anything. No alarms, watching movies, spending time with the boys has just been great. We have the scheduled baseball training nights, and church, but for that it has just been whatever we wanted to do. Loving this. Because in the next few weeks baseball will totally consume our world. Both the boys are on traveling baseball teams and my youngest will play rec ball too. I am so blessed, and wouldn't miss this time in my life. I know my situation is different. I don't know of very many 52 year old women who have children still in grade school. Many days it is a challenge for me, but I pray and I pray a lot and by God's Grace I make it. I can do all things through Him that gives me the strength to do it.
I had talked about giving a full menu this week but quite obvious that did not happen. That is still on my to do list and it will happen. This will be my goal for next week. Stay tuned!
I enjoyed watching Extreme Couponing last night! I can't believe all the negative feedback the show is getting though. Feedback is that these women are hoarders - wasteful, inconsiderate of others taking that much stock off the shelf. I truly think most people are jealous of others who can save that much at the store. I have been doing this for so long that I understand the whole concept of it. It does take work to sit down and make out your menu for the week and what you need to purchase for your families meals. Then you have to check out the ads to see if any of the food items on your planned menu is on sale anywhere and if you have a coupon to help out with the expense. I love doing this........does this not sound like a Proverbs woman? "She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships,bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still night;
she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night."
Love Proverbs 31 - guide for daily living.
On another note - I wonder if the government will shut down on Friday? I certainly hope not - praying this does not happen. This affects so many people and just doesn't solve anything.
As always just thinking......Jan's Way

Beautiful Day
It was a beautiful day today. For a change we didn't have to be anyway except for baseball practice and that is always a positive thing. This family loves baseball! Brodie and I took a walk up by our pond today and just hung out together. It was really nice just spending some one on one time with him. He is growing up so quickly.
I will hold this memory forever.
No meal planning menu today.......no cooking today at my house except for the preparation of the First Communion luncheon for Casey tomorrow. We had pizza tonight, but wait........I had a coupon for buy one get one free at Dominos! Always working it...........
Hopefully tomorrow I can give you several days of menu planning. Don't forget to get your Sunday paper for coupons - great inserts this time. I almost forgot! I received the new Hungry Girl Cookbook in the mail today. Love it!!!! One more thing - I have lost 8 pounds!!! Only 42 more to go to reach goal. :-)
Good night, say your prayers!

All In a Day
I honestly don't think I can pack one more thing to do in this day. It seems like I have done it all. I have managed to clean my house from top to the bottom - literally. I have been grocery shopping - which killed me - I only used one .55 coupon. I just wasn't doing the Krazy Coupon Princess type shopping, but honestly, it felt like the finger nails going down the chalkboard when I didn't have my coupons at the check-out line. I guess this will happen from time to time, but I don't want it happen very often. Did I also mentioned that I cooked a big meal for dinner, got that mess cleaned up and did several loads of clothes, cleaned two of the three bathrooms too. Not very interesting reading, it just helps to write it all out on paper. Hopefully it will not be a sleepless night for me.
I did manage to catch the 10:00 news and every time I watch the news, I have to remind myself why I watch it because of all the bad news. It makes me sad, really sad to hear about other people's misfortune. I wish I could just make it all better - but I know I can't to that - so unrealistic to even think that. Just writing out loud.
Most of the time I try to stay pretty optimistic about things...but when I get down I get really down.....I just want to search for that one place that I can go to.......and it always leads me to spend time with Jesus. My little Casey has his First Communion this Sunday and I am so very proud of him. He has such a sweetness to him. I am more than blessed with my boys and grandson. I feel so honored that God chose me to be their mother. I always think of Mary and how she must of felt when God chose her to be the mother of Jesus. Can you imagine the love Jesus had for her and the love she had for Jesus. I just get so dearly touched when I speak of her. She made a home in her heart for the Son of God. And that is simply what we are asked to do.......we must allow God's word to open our hearts. Didn't I tell you I search for that one place to go when I need to have my spirits lifted???? Feeling better......
Thank you Jesus for my time with you. May God's Peace be with you. Goodnight
